The Friendship Group

The Friendship Group continues to meet in St Thomas’ Church on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We have increased our membership to eighteen with 90% attending every month. We would welcome new members but are always pleased to welcome visitors to our meetings.

We have a varied programme of speakers and they receive donations to their charities. We are also pleased to donate to Jean Mercer’s Church Flower Fund. This year we have given a donation towards the blinds in the renovated Church Hall. Maud Ellis has worked so hard for this to come about. We still try to help Gwen and Ruth on their Praise & Play Wednesdays – always such a happy afternoon.

We just have Joan and Margaret as officers while members just do the rest without any prompting so we are a happy crowd encouraged by the support from our vicar.

Editor’s note. Joan’s report did not make it into the Annual Report so is presented here.

Financial Challenge

Our two projects in conjunction with the new roof at St Mary Magdalene’s, which we are committed to proceeding with, present a significant financial challenge to our Parish. Several people are working tirelessly behind the scenes to seek further grant aid and financial support /donations but we are as a membership being called upon to accept this challenge too. Please pray about it, offer your help – volunteers keep costs down – and support fundraising events. Don’t forget the Antiques Quiz Friday 6th May. Please continue to give as generously as you can and do make your giving tax efficient. Ask for Bankers orders or regular envelopes so we do not miss out on a penny. We are going to need a lot of them!

God is doing many marvellous things in our midst. Let us listen to His call. We have a wonderful opportunity to be a part of preserving our beautiful Churches for generations to come.
